5 Things Empaths Should Do To Protect Their Energy

Being an empath is a wonderful gift. You're sensitive to the feelings and emotions of others, and you often have a deep understanding of what other people are going through. This sensitivity allows you to be compassionate with your friends and family, but it can sometimes make life difficult because there's so much negativity out there in the world.

As an empath, you are hypersensitive to the energy of others. This means you can deeply feel other people's feelings and emotions. It also means that your interactions with others can leave you feeling drained and exhausted.

It's important for empaths to know how to protect their energy. Here are five things that empaths should do to help them stay grounded and energized:


1. Set Boundaries

The most important thing to do is to create boundaries around your own emotions and energy. If you feel overwhelmed by the emotions of others, take time to re-centre yourself and replenish your resources before interacting with people again.

It's also important to speak up when people are not treating your feelings with respect or consideration. If someone says something offensive or hurtful, don't be afraid to say something like: "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in hearing about how terrible someone else is right now."


2. Use Crystals

Crystals are a great way to help release negative energy and keep your energy clear. It's important that you choose crystals that resonate with you, so they're effective in releasing unwanted energy from your body and mind.


Here are some of the top crystals that empaths should use:

Amethyst: This crystal is known as a stone of spirituality and inner peace. It also helps you connect to your spirit guides and guardians. You can place amethyst in your home or office room to help keep negative energy away from you.

Rose quartz: This crystal is known as the love stone, which means it will help you attract love into your life. Rose quartz also helps heal emotional wounds, so if you're feeling hurt or lonely, this might be a good choice.

Aquamarine: This crystal is known as the mermaid's stone, which makes sense because it has been used since ancient times by sailors who believed it would bring them good luck while they were at sea. It's also been used as a talisman against bad luck and illness in general since ancient times too!


How to use crystals to protect your energy;

  • You can place crystals in your pocket or under your pillow when you sleep at night.

  • Crystals also work well if placed on tables or desks during the day while you're working or studying - this helps keep them grounded and protected from negative energies entering the room through air vents, windows and other sources.

Meditation is a great way to relax and recharge. It helps you be calm and centered no matter what stressors come up during your day, so you can stay grounded in your own physical body instead of the thoughts and feelings of others.


Meditation can be a great tool for empaths, and there are many ways to meditate that include;

  • Yoga is a great way to calm down and relax after a busy day. It's also good exercise, which helps boost your mood and energy levels. Yoga can help you get centered and feel connected with yourself again after being bombarded by other people's emotions all day long.

  • Tai chi is another form of meditation that involves moving slowly in a series of graceful movements while focusing on breathing deeply and thinking about nothing else except how each movement feels in your body. This helps you tune into yourself again after being surrounded by other people all day long.

  • Guided meditation is where someone else leads you through a meditation process. There many guided meditations available on Spotify, search and find the one that suits you best. I have a curated a playlist of my favourite meditations here.

4. Balance your chakra centres

Empaths can be affected by other people's energy because their chakra centres are out of balance. Chakra is an Eastern word for "wheel" or "center." There are seven major chakras in your body, each one associated with a different colour and an emotion.


The first three chakras are located at the base of your spine and relate to survival needs such as food and shelter. The fourth chakra is located near your heart and relates to love. The fifth chakra is found just above the head and relates to thinking and communication skills.

The sixth chakra is found between your eyebrows and relates to intuition or spiritual perception abilities.


The seventh chakra is found above your head and relates to wisdom, enlightenment, higher consciousness, higher self-awareness, and spiritual understanding.

How to balance your chakras to protect your energy


To balance your chakras as an empath, start by grounding yourself first. You can do this by taking three deep breaths into your belly, imagining each breath bringing in clean energy from the earth through the soles of your feet and the crown of your head. This will help clear any negative energy that may be stuck in your body or aura.


Next, visualize yourself surrounded by white light (also known as angelic light). This will help protect you from negative energies others might send out towards you when they don't know how else to deal with their own feelings or emotions. Visualize this light surrounding you like a bubble that no one can touch without permission from within you.

Afterwards, take a moment to feel the energy inside of you and see if there are any imbalances going on within your energy system. If so, focus on healing those areas until they feel balanced again.


When these centres are balanced, it's easier for an empath to stay grounded in their own physical body instead of the thoughts and feelings of others.


5. Be mindful of what you're feeling at all times

Empaths tend to feel things very deeply, which means that they need to be aware of their own emotions and reactions more than those who are not empaths. It's important for them to tune into their inner voice so that they can understand whether something is making them feel good or bad and adjust accordingly.



It's important to take care of your energy, not just because you'll feel better, but because it will help you be more productive and effective in everything you do. You can accomplish this by being mindful of your energy and how you use it.


When we're aware of our emotions and how they affect our energy levels, we can make better decisions about where to invest our time and effort. We can also choose activities that allow us to recharge our emotional batteries, so we don't run out of steam halfway through the day.
